a few weeks ago this gorgeous girl turned one! i was lucky enough to photograph her and her lovely mum and dad on the morning of her birthday at the haven in terrigal. i first met kayla + mike at our prenatal group back when miss holly was still relaxing in mum’s belly. as soon as i met these two, i knew there was something special about them. they are two of the most genuine, lovely people i’ve had the opportunity to meet and i am so grateful to be able to call them friends. fast forward more than a year later and now miss holly is one and growing up {at a rapid pace i might add} into the most gorgeous little lady.
we started the morning off walking around the haven, taking some fun family shots. holly was more than happy to show me her walking skills with mum and dad, and although i almost had a heart attack when mike started throwing her up in the air, you can’t top that expression of sheer joy!! to finish off the shoot we set up a little cake smash in honour of the birthday girl. kayla made the cake herself, which was amazing i might add, and the beautiful floral ‘1’ was created by Grace & Sugar. i think we all thought that holly was just going to dive into that cake but to our surprise, she decided that being more civilized and tasting the cake with her mum-mum biscuit was a much better idea! we were joined by one of kayla’s best friends, kate, who shares a birthday with holly so what better idea then to have aunty kate help with the cake smash and show holly how it’s done! good on you kate!
